PTA Awards

The Hillsborough County Council PTA/PTSA knows every local unit works very hard to focus on the Purposes of PTA.  We want to recognize the individuals and units who further the mission and purposes of the PTA through your work planning events and programs that are meaningful to your members and your community.  Applying for our many awards allows local units an opportunity to showcase their efforts and share successful program. Instructions for completing all the award applications and descriptions follow:

  • Read and review all awards available.  Get all of your information gathered up before you begin your submission.
  • NEW THIS YEAR – ALL AWARD APPLICATIONS ARE ONLINE!
  • Awards for Golden Participation, Student Involvement, Volunteer hours and Increased Membership will be given out based on the PTA information you provide – no separate application is required for these awards.
  • Please include a 3 sentence synopsis of your application and the phonetic pronunciation of recipient’s name if applicable.
  • Do NOT mention your nominee, school, mascot, or PTA/PTSA when writing your narrative, as this will result in immediate disqualification.
  • Most Important … Focus your writing on the Purpose of PTA and how your nominee or program promoted these purposes.

  • To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community and place of worship
  • To raise the standards of home life
  • To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth
  • To bring into closer relation the home & school, that parents and teacher may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth.

Certificate Awards

Participates/attends three or more HCC PTA/PTSA County level meetings, trainings, conferences, workshops.
If PTSA …. At least one student serves on your PTA Board
Volunteer hours must reflect two times your PTA membership number.
Two (2) Awarded.  One for highest number increase of members from previous year and one given for highest percentage increase in membership from previous year. Membership counts from Florida PTA will be verified and used.

Individual Awards

Purpose: This award is to recognize an outstanding senior for a student led program, project, or event that they created. This can be a “legacy” program that they created as an underclassman and has carried forward. It is the intent of HCC PTA/PTSA to give this award to a senior who may not necessarily be top running for scholarships, but has well rounded character, supported your PTSA through a program, and demonstrates maturity consistent with being a good citizen. Criteria: The Senior’s participation must be based on this school year’s activities, unless it is a “legacy program” that they created as an underclassman and is still being used. Only one nomination per school is allowed. Your PTSA chooses the senior and each nominated senior will be recognized and receive an award.
Purpose: This award is to recognize an outstanding PTA member in a local unit (not the President or Principal), who has been instrumental in developing programs and/or demonstrated service/leadership in promoting programs that support the Purposes of PTA. The nominee must have promoted at least TWO PTA goals. Tell us about their involvement, leadership, ideas, planning and extraordinary efforts in PTA. Criteria: The Purposes of the PTA, which can be found at the beginning of this form, should be used as a guideline. The nominee’s participation must be based on this school year’s activities. We will accept only one nomination per school. One nominee will be selected from each level: Elementary, Middle and High to receive this award.
Purpose: This award is to recognize an outstanding middle or high school student in a local unit who has been instrumental in developing programs and/or demonstrated service/leadership in promoting programs that support the Purposes of PTA. The nominee must have promoted at least ONE PTA goal. Tell us about their involvement, leadership, ideas, planning and extraordinary efforts in PTA. Criteria: The Purpose of the PTA, which can be found at the beginning of this form, should be used as a guideline. The nominee’s participation must be based on this school year’s activities. Only one nomination per school is allowed. We will accept only one nomination per school. One nominee will be selected from Middle and High to receive this award.
Purpose: This award is to recognize an outstanding principal at an area school who has shown commitment and cooperation with their local PTA/PTSA over and above their normal job duties. How did they participate on the PTA/PTSA board? Were they open to new ideas and projects? The nominee must have promoted our PTA goals and purpose. Tell us about their involvement, leadership, ideas, planning and extraordinary efforts in your PTA and school. Criteria: The Purpose of the PTA, which can be found at the beginning of this form, should be used as a guideline. The nominee’s participation must be based on this school year’s activities. We will accept only one nomination per school. One nominee will be selected from each level: Elementary, Middle and High to receive this award.
Purpose: This award is to recognize an outstanding president in a local unit who has set specific goals and a budget. Exercised exemplary leadership choosing strong programs and services as well as developed and managed projects that promoted the principles of PTA. Tell us about how they go over and beyond normal local unit presidential duties including their involvement, leadership, ideas, planning and extraordinary efforts in PTA. Criteria: The Purpose of the PTA, which can be found at the beginning of this form, should be used as a guideline. The nominee’s participation must be based on this school year’s activities. We will accept only one nomination per school. One nominee will be selected from each level: Elementary, Middle and High to receive this award.
Purpose: This award is to recognize an outstanding non-instructional school person (secretary, custodian, bus driver, cafeteria worker, nurse, classroom aide) for his or her promotion of the Purpose of PTA. The nominee must have promoted at least ONE PTA goal. Tell us about their involvement, ideas, planning and extraordinary efforts in PTA. Criteria: The Purpose of the PTA, which can be found at the beginning of this form, should be used as a guideline. The nominee’s participation must be based on this school year’s activities. We will accept only one nomination per school. One nominee will be selected from each level: Elementary, Middle and High to receive this award.
Purpose: This award is to recognize an outstanding instructional school person (teacher, guidance counselor, media specialist, assistant principal, para-professional) for his or her promotion of the Purpose of PTA. The nominee must have promoted at least ONE PTA goal. Tell us about their involvement, ideas, planning and extraordinary efforts in PTA. Criteria: The Purpose of the PTA, which can be found at the beginning of this form, should be used as a guideline. The nominee’s participation must be based on this school year’s activities. We will accept only one nomination per school. One nominee will be selected from each level: Elementary, Middle and High to receive this award.

Program Awards

Purpose: This award is to recognize a PTA/PTSA with an extraordinary Male Involved Program. How is the Purpose of PTA being achieved through the male involvement? Tell us about events, programs and participation within the PTA. Criteria: The Purpose of the PTA, which can be found at the beginning of this form, should be used as a guideline. All events, programs and participation must have been conducted during this school year. Only one nomination per school is allowed. One nominee will be selected from each level: Elementary, Middle and High to receive this award.
Purpose: This award is to recognize local units who have been chartered or re-chartered for three years or less for their goals and achievements throughout the year, while promoting the purpose of PTA. Tell us about your board, yearly achievements, programs and involvement with families, teachers and the community. Criteria: The Purpose of the PTA, which can be found at the beginning of this form, should be used as a guideline. Only one nomination per school is allowed. One nominee will be selected from each level: Elementary, Middle and High to receive this award.
Purpose: This award is to recognize a PTA/PTSA sponsored event or program that focuses on the health and/or safety of our school children through health and/or safety education. Who was involved in your event or program and how many were affected? Tell us about the WOW factor in your program, explaining how creative and innovative your event/program was. Criteria: The Purpose of the PTA, which can be found at the beginning of this form, should be used as a guideline. The event or program must have been conducted during this school year. Only one nomination per school is allowed. One nominee will be selected from each level: Elementary, Middle and High to receive this award.
Purpose: This award is to recognize a PTA/PTSA sponsored event or program that directly focuses on bringing together, educating and involving families in school. How did you encourage education? How innovative and creative were your ideas presented to develop family and community spirit? Tell us about the WOW factor in your program. Criteria: The Purpose of the PTA, which can be found at the beginning of this form, should be used as a guideline. The event or program must have been conducted during this school year. Only one nomination per school is allowed. One nominee will be selected from each level: Elementary, Middle and High to receive this award.
Purpose: This award is to recognize a PTA/PTSA sponsored event or program that directly focuses on improving student academic achievement. The program should encourage and reinforce academic excellence. Who was involved? How innovative and creative were your ideas presented? Tell us about the WOW factor in your program. Criteria: The Purpose of the PTA, which can be found at the beginning of this form, should be used as a guideline. The event or program must have been conducted during this school year. Only one nomination per school is allowed. One nominee will be selected from each level: Elementary, Middle and High to receive this award.
Purpose: This award is to recognizes local units that use superior skills disseminating meaningful information to parents, students and the community by means of website, newsletter and/or social media. How innovative and creative were you in developing communications with families and the community? Was information from National PTA and County PTA shared with board members, administration and families? Tell us all methods used to communicate. Criteria: Communications are for the school year only. Only one nomination per school is allowed. One nominee will be selected from each level: Elementary, Middle and High to receive this award.
Purpose: This award is to recognize a PTA/PTSA comprehensive program by local units that directly focuses on the missions of PTA while providing an excellent opportunity to teach children and families the value of generosity and helping others through a service project(s). Who was involved? How innovative and creative were your ideas. How did your service project(s) impact your school and the community? Tell us about the impact these service projects made to the students of your school. Criteria: The purpose of the PTA, which can be found at the beginning of this form, should be used as a guideline. This service project(s) must have been conducted during this school year. Only one nomination per school is allowed. One nominee will be selected from each level: Elementary, Middle and High to receive this award.
Purpose: This award is to recognize a PTA/PTSA sponsored outstanding arts program that was creative in including family involvement while promoting the Purpose of the PTA. Tell us about your program’s WOW factor. How does it show new, creative and innovative ideas presented to enhance any type of fine arts education (visual, musical, theater etc…)? Who was involved? Please do not use your Reflections Program. Criteria: The purpose of the PTA, which can be found at the beginning of this form, should be used as a guideline. This program must have been conducted during this school year. Only one nomination per school is allowed. One nominee will be selected from each level: Elementary, Middle and High to receive this award.
Purpose: This award is to recognize a PTA/PTSA sponsored event or program that demonstrates or aims to influence positive outreach and change within the immediate school environment or community through new rules or laws. What was the goal of your program? Did it influence positive change in your school community? How did your program promote the welfare of children at home, in school and the community? Was there a closer relation between home and school developed so parents and teachers could work together in educating students? Did you have a goal to secure adequate laws for the care and protection of the children. Tell us about your program.
